Our Centre

The Equestrian Centre is located at The Hamilton and Alexandra College’s Myrniong Campus, next to the school’s Boarding Houses and the Junior Campus.

In 2025, The Hamilton and Alexandra College proudly opened a full competition-sized, undercover arena named The Wilma Hearn Equestrian Arena, made possible through a generous donation from Wilma’s husband, Don Hearn. Wilma was an outstanding equestrian role-model and the Hearn family kindly supported this facility upgrade in her honour. Being an indoor arena, students are able to ride year-round, on a professional surface, regardless of the weather.

Our Director

Diana Robertson, Director of Equestrian at The Hamilton and Alexandra College, has a extensive background with horses, from competing in the Olympic disciplines of dressage, showjumping and eventing, to helping prepare racehorses. Diana supports, encourages and teaches our students how to care for their horses and improve their riding. Exceptionally experienced and capable across the interschool disciplines, she oversees training, clinics, visiting instructors, and show-prep, ensuring students and horses are competition ready.

Our Community

The Hamilton and Alexandra College Equestrian Centre is available for hire by the community for private lessons, events, and not-for-profit organisations, such as the RDA, Adult Riders and Pony Club.

Our Experts

Students of all ages, from ELC through to Year 12, can participate in the equestrian program at The Hamilton and Alexandra College.

Both Diana and her assistant are onsite every morning and afternoon to assist students with feeding and caring for their horses, as well as providing additional riding tips outside of scheduled lessons. There is always someone around to lend a hand.

There are also coaches that come to the school on a weekly basis to teach dressage and jumping, and we have an additional coach for our junior students. We host regular clinics throughout the year on jumping, dressage and eventing. By giving the students access to professional training, they improve quickly and love their riding.

The Equestrian Centre also hosts many events and competitions throughout each year, with representatives from the school attended the Victorian Interschool Championships at Werribee each year, regularly qualifying for the National final.
